Penn State Day- Our Hike Up Mt. Nittany!

Saturday by far was one of the most memorable days I had at Penn State so far. I managed to get a group of my friends together (Lauren, Paul, Sean, Lou, CJ, and Omar) to finally climb Mount Nittany. We got a late start because we waited for Sean to get done work, but it was surprisingly easy to locate. We parked the car and started up the mountain. I was immediately worried because I did not anticipate it being that steep. We were all complaining after the first twenty minutes or so, but the ground finally evened out.
We stopped at a few places, our favorite was a bunch of rocks with a great view (of the Nittany Mall, but a lovely view none the less). It had a handwritten sign that said "Mount Greg", which Sean decided to destroy, therefore renaming it "Mount Sean". We then made our way to the Water Outlook, which was highly disappointing given that there was no water to be seen anywhere and the view was of the jail down below. It was still really funny, because we were totally expecting beautiful waterfalls or something of the sort.
We decided to head back to Mount Greg (or Sean), since that seemed to be our favorite spot. We sat on the rocks for a while and had a photo-op when some other hikers passed. The boys were being so funny, I literally don't think that I stopped laughing for hours. My face and abs were hurting from laughing so hard. The weather was beautiful and we were listening to Jack Johnson on my ipod- pretty perfect if you ask me.
Traveling back down the mountain we all realized that we were starving and everyone was fighting over where to eat (the boys all wanted Burger King, which Lauren and I strongly opposed). I came up with the brilliant idea of the State College Diner, since it's apparently a Penn State tradition, yet I was the only one who had ever ate there (and only once!). Every one agreed that it would be a Penn State themed day, so off to the diner we were!
Michelle met us there, and the eight of us had to split into two tables. Once again the boys were being hilarious. And of course we ordered grilled stickies for desert!

PRSSA "Spring Into Fashion" Show

Last night I got to show off my modeling skills and strut down the catwalk for the first time at Cafe 210 for PRSSA's second annual fashion show. I must say, I was a little nervous that I didn't have the walk down or that I would fall flat on my face. Luckily, I got away with not wearing heels!
My clothes were from Connections, located downtown on Allen Street. Picking them out just made me want to shop, shop, shop! I wore two outfits- one was an adorable black cotton Free People Jumper with flowers, which I wore with strappy black sandals and cute flower headband. My second outfit was just as cute- a flowy white sundress by Kitty that would be perfect for a graduation or spring/summer event. I wore it with cowboys boots and fell in LOVE! I wish I could have bought it, but at $88 it was way past my current budget.

Tonight I attended a portfolio workshop held by the PRSSA. Dana talked about what we need to include in our portfolios and how to make an e-portfolio. The first thing I did after the workshop was rush to the library to make another resume in pdf form. It turned out pretty cute, but I think I might have made it too flashy, with blue and green across the top. But hey, I personally would rather see a resume with a little bit of personality in it; even if it may be considered unprofessional to some, it may catch the eyes of the people who I would really enjoy working for!

Beautiful Weather!

Today has been all about espanol. I just wrote my paper on the writing elements and styles of two poems by Fredorico Garcia Lorca and now I'm attempting to study for my exam on Wednesday. At least I am finally starting my study abroad application- I can't wait to be in Alicante, Spain! I'm so excited that one of my roommates has decided to join me next spring.

This week has been absolutely gorgeous! I love it so much, the only negative is that it's hard to get homework done outside in the bright sun..it's so tempting to just relax and read a book. Yesterday we woke up early, walked somewhere new for brunch, and went and visited the Palmer Art Museum. For it being located only a few hundred yards from my dorm room, it was suprisingly our first time visiting. It was actually really cool inside, and an hour later I had to force myself to leave so I could go outside and enjoy the beautiful weather on my day off. I will definitely be going back now that I know there is free entrance! Definitely a must for a rainy day or any spare time I have.

I'm actually grateful it's forcasted to rain the next two days, because I'll be living in the library studying for my exam. It's hard for me to sit here (I'm in the library now) when I know that the sun is shining outside. I'm hoping that I can get a group of people together next weekend to do something new, I really want to go hike Mount Nittany if it's nice out. If I could get enough people, I would definitely be up for a one-night camping trip! I'm well overdue- I haven't camped out since the summer.

Speaking of summer, I'm still working on internships. I think I'm going to accept my job offer but work it so that I have 2-3 days off a week and settle for an unpaid internship those days if I have no other option- I guess I can just work at my old job at night so that I'm not losing any money. Three jobs this summer wasn't exactly what I was looking forward to, but I need to save up money for Spain next year..the shopping is amazing!

First day back

So, I must admit I was a little frazzled when I woke up this morning. I immediately started worrying about what I have to do for the next few weeks after a whole week off for spring break and vacation in Florida. Let's just say thank goodness for my Vera Bradley planner, without it my life would be so unorganized! I've already went to Spanish class and the gym and am currently in the HUB office for office hours, hopefully getting some more internship applications filled out before statistics class. Not knowing what I am doing this summer is stressing me out, and I don't know if I should accept a job offer as a leasing manager, which has nothing to do with my major but pays well. I would really love an internship in PR or advertising, but I can't afford to get one that doesn't pay. I'm just going to have to keep sending out applications and cross my fingers!
